Property from a Savannah, GA Estate

Description:

Pair of Queen Anne Mahogany Side Chairs, Philadelphia, c. 1750, each with rocaille shell carved crest and outscrolled ears above a vasi-form backrest above a slip trapezoidal seat raised on shell carved cabriole legs ending in pad feet. Chair with old finish bearing handwritten label 'This chair deposited by M A Buckman was the property of Hon Charles Thomson who was first Secretary of the First Congress of the United States' and with another hand written label 'Two Queen Anne chairs belong to Charles Thomson 1st Secretary 1st Congress of U.S. .....' The other chair bearing a typed label 'This chair belonged to the Hon Charles Thomson who was first Secretary of the: First Congress of the U.S.'.

Measurements: Height: 40 in. x Width: 20 1/2 in. x Depth: 18 in.

Condition:

Both in overall good condition, one refinished, the other with what appears to be the original finish, original finish chair with age cracks to back of splat. The other chair with repaired side of backsplat and loss to the front left molding of seat. Both with old marks and scratches and wear to edges.
