Description:

John Kasyn (Ontario/Manitoba, 1926-2008), Red House Near Jarvis Street, Oil on Board, signed lower right, and inscribed '#16, Kasyn/ 80, Red House Near Jarvis St., oil on masonite with lucite 4.4., do not clean with turpentine' and artist and 'Cambridge Arts LTD. West End Gallery, Alberta' labels on verso, depicting red houses in winter with snow on the ground, matted and framed. Frame size: 25 1/2 in. x 21 1/4 in.

John Kasyn was raised in Winnipeg and moved to Toronto in 1940. He attended Central Technical School and the Ontario College of Art, and worked at Design Studios for eight years as an art director. Kasyn was a member of the Ontario Society of Artists (O.S.A.) and the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Color (C.S.P.W.C.). He is know for his paintings of old houses in the inner core of Toronto and his paintings of abandoned barns and rolling fields. Kasyn's work can now be found in the numerous public and private across Canada and the United States, including the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and the Art Gallery of Ontario. He is also represented the Mazelow Gallery, Toronto, Wallack Galleries, Ottawa, De Vooght Galleries, Vancouver and Galerie Walter Klinkhoff, Montreal.

Measurements: Height: by sight 16 1/2 in. x Width: 12 1/2 in.

Condition:

Good condition, minor foxing to matt, light wear to frame.
