Description:

Von Peter Bauer (1783-1847) Celestial Globe, 19th Century, the 8 in. celestial globe marked 'Neuster Himmels-Globus, Von P. Bauer' with octagonal astrological circumference ring, standard and base mounted with a compass.

Peter Bauer was the son of globe maker Johann Bernhard Bauer (1752-1839), who was the key engraver in the workshop of Johann Georg Klinger (1764-1806), one of the most prominent globe makers in Nuremberg and Germany at the time.

Measurements: Height: 15 in. x Width: 12 in.

Condition:

Fair condition, two moldings on circumference ring probably replaced, age cracks, losses, old marks and scratches, wear to edges, crack to metal on compass mount, glass foggy on compass.
