Description:

Two Engravings of The Rev. William Jay, 19th C, comprising one colored engraving of the Reverend William Jay engraved by R. Hancock, after a painting by J. Hutchinson, the larger published by Joseph Hutchinson, with biographies in German of artist and engraver on verso (size of frame: 16 1/4 in. x 13 1/4 in.), and another engraving of Rev. William Jay engraved by William Henry Hutchison and printed by Rowney & Foster, London, 1822.

Rev. William Jay was an English Non Conformist congregationalist from a family of stone masons, his son William Jay was the architect of the Owens Thomas House, William Scarborough House, Telfair Academy, and the Savannah Theater in Savannah, GA). Both matted and framed.

Measurements: Height: of largest frame 23 1/2 in. x Width: 19 1/2 in.

Condition:

Overall good condition, minor toning to paper, some minor foxing, small losses to surface in center of larger engraving to left of figures shoulder and in figures robe above center of book, the smaller engraving with two small tears in upper left corner, not viewed out of frames.
