Stephen Scott Young (FL/SC,/HI/Bahamas, b. 1957), Island Pearl, Watercolor on Paper, signed and dated '88 lower right, depicting a young girl in white top and pearls, matted and framed. Frame size: 27 1/2 in. x 27 1/2 in.Provenance: Purchased Barridoff Galleries 8/3/2007, lot 178, $14,400.
Stephen Scott Young was raised in St. Augustine, Florida. He attended Flagler College where he studied printmaking and watercolor, and earned a prize in American Artist's national competition in 1985. His mature style, which focuses on the realistic depiction of people in his area of Florida and the Bahamas, has been compared to many American masters from Winslow Homer to Andrew Wyeth.
