Si-Chen Yuan was born and raised in China and moved to the United States as a young man. He settled in California and became one of the great painters of Monterey Peninsula. He received some formal art training while still living in China, later he travelled widely while maintaining a home studio in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Si Yuan is known for Modernist marine, landscape, seascape, floral and fruit still life painting. He was widely celebrated in California throughout his career. (askART and Carmel Art Association)
