Description:

Richard Lomahinma Dawavendewa (ND, Hopi, 20th/21st C) Kachinum, Book with 4 Prints, 2001, containing four serigraph lithographs on hand-dyed paper, the fourth signed and dated, with Certificate of Authenticity signed by artist, numbered 10/25 in a limited edition, bound in a hand-made clothbound portfolio with bead closure, the prints based on traditional Hopi imagery. Portfolio size: 11 1/4 in. x 11 1/4 in.

Richard Lomahinma Dawavendewa was born and raised in the Hopi village of Moenkopi, Arizona, but came to North Dakota to pursue an MFA at UND. Dawavendewa’s work is deeply symbolic, conveying elements of his life experience as a Hopi. He credits his grandfather, an esteemed elder in his community, for instilling within him a deep respect for his culture. (University of North Dakota)
