Description:

Rare Original Volkswagen Test Drive Manuscript, 1937, Long-term test drive with 3 test runs from Dr. Ing H.C. F. Porsche G.M.B.H developed for the Volkswagen' (Dauer-Versuchsfahrt mit 3 Probeausfuhrungen der von der Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche G.M.B.H. fur den Volkswagen).  One of only 50 numbered copies.  A "strictly confidential" report of the test drive of the first three prototypes of the VW "Beetle".  Numbered 46/50, private printing 1937 in original folder. Title page signed ‘Vorwig’. The first section consisting of 96 pages detailing the development, testing, and conclusions of the first three VW prototypes. Appendix one with 31 mounted original photographs and numerous illustrations and diagrams. The second section with the test data for the prototype vehicles, many of them fold-outs, detailing the measurements taken from the data discs.

Provenance: by descent from Wilhelm Robert Vorwig, then technical director of the German Automobile Industry Association, and signer of page 96.

Measurements: Height: 12 in. x Width: 8 1/2 in. x Depth: 1 1/4 in.

Condition:

Good vintage condition, some bumping to edges, some stains and surface dirt to cover, rear cover with tear to bottom.
