Description:

John Eric Byers (NY, b. 1959), Carved Wood Sphere Sculpture, three carved and painted wood spheres on a painted wood shelf, the spheres initial stamped and dated 'JB, 03'. Diameter of spheres: 5 1/2 in. Provenance: purchased from Gallery Naga in the 1990's.

Heralded as a leading American artist working in wood, permanent collections include the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Philadelphia Museum of Art and Museum of Arts and Design. Numerous awards include a Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Award, New York Foundation of the Arts Awards, and inclusion in the Smithsonian's Oral Archives of American Arts. Mastering his personal aesthetic for four decades, John's individually hand-made work is guided by purity in form, surface texture, structure, and respect for use of materials. (johnericbyers.com)

Measurements: Height: overall on shelf 8 in. x Width: 22 in. x Depth: 6 in.

Condition:

Good condition, minor wear to edges of shelf, the triangle motif ball with three thin age cracks to wood, the black green and yellow ball with one thin age crack to wood, some faint craquelure to paint on all.
