Description:
French School, Two Small Genre Scenes, Oil on Board, probably 19th century, both unsigned, one depicting a market scene with two figures with handwritten label on verso '2176, Le Gourmand' (with light rubbing along edges wear rubs against frame), the other depicting a group of figures including a drummer, child, and farmer, in a field with handwritten label on verso '3861, Tambour de Village' (with losses to figures, particularly in faces and arms, slightly loose in frame, with light rubbing along edges wear rubs against frame) both in giltwood frames. Frame sizes:9 3/4 in. x 8 1/8 in.Measurements: Height: of boards 5 5/8 in. x Width: 3 7/8 in.
Condition:
Overall good condition, frames with wear to edges and gilt, some age cracks, see description for painting condition.
