Charles Woodbury (American, 1864-1940), Seascape with Waves, Oil on Board, signed lower left, depicting an active ocean scene with blue sky with linen mat in a silvered frame. Frame size: 11 3/8 in. x 13 in.

Charles Woodbury is known for his marine, interior, landscape paintings, etchings, and his prolific teaching career. Born in Lynn, Massachusetts, Woodbury is often considered among the most influential artists to work in Ogunquit, Maine and in Boston. He taught more than 4,000 students during his teaching career, wrote three well known books on art education, and had more than 100 solo exhibitions of his artwork.

Condition

Good condition, craquelure, some minor surface dirt, minor wear to edges where touching frame, wear to frame.
