Property from a Private Collector, Jacksonville, FL

Description:

Cambodian Sandstone Fragment, Probably 13th Century, depicting the upper torso of a male figure with mustache and headdress with hand holding a shell and flowers behind, mounted on a wood block.

Provenance: Estate of Dr. Richard Hall Chamberlain (1915-1975) inherited by present owner. It is her belief that he acquired this sculpture during his travels to South Vietnam in 1968. Dr. Chamberlain, who was a well respected radiologist from Jacksonville, FL, served as a consultant for the World Health Organization, and made several speaking tours in South East Asia and the Western Pacific. From 1968 - 1975 he was counterpart chairman of the Department of Radiology at the University of Saigon.

Measurements: Height: of stone 14 3/4 in. x Width: 13 1/2 in. x Depth: 5 in.

Condition:

Good weathered condition.
