Property from a Collector of Russian and European Art

Description:

8 Russian Lacquer Boxes, including 4 Palekh, 3 Mstiora, and 1 miscellaneous style signed in their respective Russian spellings. From largest to smallest, the Palekh box unsigned and titled "Troika" on lower right depicts a traditional Russian Troika scene of a three horse-drawn sleigh carrying a couple on the hinged lid. The Palekh box signed C.A. on lower right and titled "Morozko" depicts the Russian spirit of winter holding a large staff in his left hand while his other extends to the shoulder of a figure sitting in the snow. The red Palekh box signed Zaitsev on lower right and titled "Lel" depicts a young man, a Slavic mythological figure of the same name, playing a fluted instrument. The Palekh box signed L. Demibov on lower right and titled "Troika" depicts the same scene as previously described. The Mstiora box illegibly signed and titled "Morozko" depicts a troika scene of a single woman pulled in a winter sleigh. The round Mstiora box signed Ph. D. and titled "General Toptygin" depicts a troika scene of the Soviet animated character Toptygin. The small Mstiora box signed V. Lavrov on lower right and titled "Kolobok" depicts the Russian fairy-tall of a ball-shaped wheat bread. The largest box depicts a city scene along a river.

Measurements: Height: of largest: 2 in. x Width: 4 in. x Depth: 4 in.

Condition:

Good condition, minor rubbing to some paint and minor scuffs or marks from general use.
