Property from a Collector of Russian and European Art

Description:

8 Russian Lacquer Boxes, includes 3 Palekh, 3 Mstiora, and 2 Kholui styles signed in their respective Russian spellings. The red Palekh box illegibly signed and titled on lower lid depicts a man on a hill with a large bird, possibly a falcon, perched on his hand with a small horse at his feet. The rectangular Palekh box signed A. Pemrov on lower right, untitled, and dated 1990 depicts a duel between two figures holding a sword and spear on horse-back. The Palekh box signed V. V. A. on lower right and illegibly titled depicts a gold detailed castle scene with two embracing figures and two other reaching toward them. The largest Mstiora box signed Smirnova M. on lower right and titled "Oh, frost, frost" depicts the Russian spirit of winter overlooking a snowy landscape as a figure rides through the wind on horseback to reach his wife waiting in their home. The Mstiora box illegibly signed and titled "Lelia's Song" depicts a forest scene of a young man playing a flutist instrument for a young woman. The Mstiora box signed V. Lavrov and titled "A Fairytale about a Golden Rooster" depicts a traditional Troika scene of a couple in a wheeled carriage. The Kholui box illegibly signed and titled "Morozko" depicts the Russian spirit of winter wrapping a coat around the shoulders of a figure sitting on the ground. The Kholui box illegibly signed and titled "Duel" depicts a duel between two sword-wielding figures on horseback.

Measurements: Height: of largest: 2 in. x Width: 5 5/8 in. x Depth: 4 in.

Condition:

Good condition, minor rubbing to some paint and minor scuffs or marks from general use, some cracking to lacquered surface of red Palekh and untitled Palekh 1990 box.
