Weinberg's work is in the permenant collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In addition to being an artist, Jonathan Weinberg is an art historian. He is the author of Speaking for Vice: Homosexuality in the Art of Charles Demuth, Marsden Hartley and the First American Avant-Garde (Yale University Press 1993), and Ambition and Love in Modern American Art (Yale University Press 2001).
