Kouwenhoven, Jr. John Perreault, (New York, 1937-2015), Totem, Stenciled Ink on Paper, 1966, initialed and dated "66" lower right, depicting letters in a vertical format, with label for Gallery One Eleven, 111 St. Marks Place N.Y.C. on the back, in a Julius Lowy frame. Frame size 20 1/4 in. height x 16 1/4 in. width. Perreault was best known as an art critic for The Village Voice and The SoHo Weekly but he was also an artist. He was represented by Gallery One Eleven on 8th Street, New York and organized and exhibited at The Fashion Show Poetry Event at the Center for Inter-American Relations, 680 Park Avenue, alongside Hannah Weiner, Alex Katz, Marisol, Andy Warhol, James Rosenquist and Claes Oldenburg. Perreault also sat for a famous nude portrait by Alice Neel. Provenance Purchased from Gallery One Eleven.
