Description:

Salvador Carera (Philippines, 20th Century), Mother and Boy, Oil on Canvas, signed lower left, depicting a mother holding a young boy against a blue background, with label 'This certifies that this painting is one of my original works sold at Mendoza's Art Gallery, Manila and Angeles City, Philippines, Garciano Mendoza, Proprietor, Salvador Cabrera, Artist' with signature on verso, in a wood frame. Frame size: 39 in. x 39 in.

Salvador Cabrera was a Filipino Postwar & Contemporary painter who was born in 1929. He studied art at the College of Fine Arts and the University of the Philippines. Cabrera worked in book illustration, billboard painting, cartoons, and as an art director, but seemed to much enjoy painting genre scenes of the Philippines, which he sold, prolifically, to tourists visiting his Ermita studio.

Overall good condition, wear to frame, some staining to linen in frame.
