Description:

Robert Watson (British, 1855-1921) , Long-Horn Sheep, Oil on Canvas, 1884, signed and dated lower left, depicting long horned sheep in a mountainous landscape, in a giltwood frame. Frame size: 19 3/8 in. x 25 1/2 in.

Robert Watson was born in Sussex England to a family of landscape painters. Like his two brothers, Watson specialized in Highland landscape paintings and detailed depictions of sheep and cattle. During his career, his work was highly sought after and today his paintings can be found in collections such as the Brighton & Hove Museum, Harris Museum, Maidstone Museum, Oldham Gallery, Towneley Hall Art Gallery, and Williamson Art Gallery.

Measurements: Height: by sight 12 3/4 in. x Width: 18 3/4 in.

Condition:

Good condition, some craquelure, very small loss to paint along upper edge, some areas of inpainting in sky and very minor areas in sheep's fur, wear to frame.
