Description:
Pair of Federal Mahogany Shield Back Side Chairs, C. 1790, each shield form pierced back rest centered by drapery swagged foliage, above a foliate carved base, raised on tapering square legsMeasurements: Height: 40 in. x Width: 22 in. x Depth: depth of seat 17 in.
Condition:
Good restored condition, refinished, one chair with repaired breaks to each side of top rail at juncture of stiles, repaired break to bottom of backrest at juncture of right stile, repaired break to leaf at top of backsplit, repaired break to bottom of backrest, the other chair with ding to center of top rail, repaired break to one leaf at top of backsplat, both with old marks and scratches, scuffs to legs, seats with different fabric, each with water staining, one with stains and looses.
