Description:

Paul Stone (GA/NC, 1928 - 1976), Two Drawings of Male Figures, comprising a three-quarter view study of a young man holding a pair of eye glasses with 'Art-Plus, 124 E. Jones St., Savannah, GA' stamp and pen inscription 'Paul Stone, Savannah, GA' on verso (by sight 7 in. x 5 1/8 in. Frame size: 13 in. x 11 in.), and a portrait study of a young man with 'Art-Plus, 124 E. Jones St., Savannah, GA' stamp and pen inscription 'Paul Stone, Savannah, GA' on verso (by sight 6 1/8 in. 6 5/8 in. Frame size: 11 7/8 in. x 12 3/8 in.).

Paul Stone is known for his drawings, pastel, and watercolor paintings of male figures, nudes, and landscapes. Stone was born in Lumberton, NC in 1928, attended the Phillips Academy at Andover, and later Harvard University. He settled in Savannah in 1957 and lived and worked there until his early death at the age of 48. Many of Stone's portraits depict Savannah society. His work has been exhibited at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and can be found in numerous public and private collections. (Askart.com)

Condition:

Fair condition, both with toning, stains, and foxing, paper slightly wavy in frames, not viewed out of frames.
