Property from the Collection of Noted Interior Designer Chuck Chewning
Description:
Pair of Donghia Grand Flute Armchairs, c. 1985, designed by John Hutton for Donghia, with bleached oak frame upholstered in Jack Lenor Larsen woven pinstripe fabric, the backs are upholstered in a coordinating fabric of wisteria pattern. Made for a New York designer's client in 1985, the chairs were fabricated but never picked up. They sat undisturbed in the Donghia racks for almost 30 years until acquired in 2013 by Chuck Chewning, then Creative Director for Donghia. The seat cushions are down stuffed. True connoisseurs will note that these are original vintage Donghia, as they have separate seat cushions. Later Donghia Grand Flute chairs were made with a tight seat with no separate cushion. The Larsen fabric is the original fabric from the 1985 fabrication and upholstery.Measurements: Height: 37 1/2 in. x Width: 29 in. x Depth: 21 in.
