Nicole Freres Geneva Walnut and Bird's Eye Maple Music Box Extraordinaire, Grand Format, the rosewood rectangular box with locking lid, opening to a fitted interior encased with a glass dust cover revealing the 8 tune cylindrical pronged brass movement, with 'Nicole Freres Fabricants, Established 1815, A Geneve 17. Rue Kleberg, London 21 Ely Place, E.C.' label on back of interior noting awards from 'Melbourne Exhibition, 1880-1881, Highest Award for Perfection in Musical Boxes', 'Sydney Exhibition, 1879-1880', and 'Inventions Exhibition 1885, Highest Award for Quality of Tone and Finish', marked on stop and play mechanism 'Nicole Freres Est. 1815, Geneve', and stamped 'Nicole Freres' and '805' on movement, and numbered '52805' in bottom of case. Together with box with 2 additional cylinders (17 3/8 in.). Provenance: Purchased from Solvang Antique Center, Solvang, CA for $19,000 in 2004.Measurements: Height: 10 1/2 in. x Width: 43 in. x Depth: 16 in.
Condition:
Good condition, leather straps to lift glass dust cover missing, wear and small losses to veneer along edges of dust cover, age cracks in veneer and wear to edges.Available payment options
