Description:

Myrtle Jones (Savannah, 1913-2005), Portrait of Jimmy, Oil on Board, 1965, signed and dated 65 lower right, depicting a portrait of a man with white shirt and glasses, with inscription, 'Jimmy, he lived next door to Mrs. Wilkes on West Jones St.' on verso, in a giltwood frame. Frame size: 29 3/8 in. x 23 1/2 in.

Myrtle Jones was an artist whose paintings commonly featured streetscapes and the architecture of Savannah, Georgia. Throughout her career Jones depicted everyday life in Savannah, through subjects including urban streetscapes, buildings, landscapes, and portraits of locals.
