Description:

Myrtle Jones (Savannah, 1913-2005), Joan and Jim, Oil and Polymer on Board, 1965, signed and dated '65' lower right, depicting a seated man and woman in tones of blue, green, and white, with handwritten inscription regarding the sitters on verso signed 'M. Jones' and dated '9, Oct. 66', in a painted wood frame. This work appears on pg. 57 of A Savannah Experience, An artistic expression of my life in Savannah, by Myrtle Jones 1995. Frame size: 43 in. x 29 1/2 in.

Myrtle Jones was an artist whose paintings commonly featured streetscapes and the architecture of Savannah, Georgia. Throughout her career Jones depicted everyday life in Savannah, through subjects including urban streetscapes, buildings, landscapes, and portraits of locals.
