Description:

Myrtle Jones (Savannah, 1913-2007), Woman on Wicker Settee, Pen and Watercolor on Paper, signed lower left, depicting a woman in a dress and sunhat reclining on a wicker settee, with Charlton Hall Galleries label, matted and in a silvered woof frame. Frame size: 32 1/2 in. x 34 3/4 in.

Myrtle Jones was an artist whose paintings commonly featured streetscapes and architecture of Savannah, Georgia. Throughout her career Jones depicted everyday life in Savannah, through subjects including urban streetscapes, buildings, landscapes, and portraits of locals. Jones was a prolific painter, possibly creating thousands of works within her lifetime. Selected exhibitions: Women Artists in Savannah, Telfair Academy; Exposed!
