Louise Nevelson was a Russian born American sculptor known for her monumental assemblage sculptures. Nevelson immigrated to the US as a child, growing up in Rockport, Maine. She went on to study art and drama in New York between 1929-1930. During her studies she worked alongside Hans Hofmann in Munich and later Diego Rivera. By the 1950's Nevelson was creating the dramatic and monumental constructions that she is now known for. In 1967 she was given her first retrospective at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. Her works can be found in the collections of the Tate Gallery London, The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, among others.MEASURMENTS: Height: of paper 31 5/8 in. x Width: 21 5/8 in.
