Property from the Estate of Judie Weiss Formerly in the Collection of Moses Weiss, NYC(NY/CT, 1912-1998), signed bottom right and dated 1943, depicting mother with baby and little girl, along a city street, in a giltwood frame. Frame size: 24 3/4 in. x 20 1/4 in. By sight: H. 17 3/4 in. x W. 13 3/8 in. Ms. Harmon was born in 1912 in New Haven, CT. She studied art at the Yale School of Fine Arts in New Haven, then at the Academie Colarossi in Paris and the Art Students' League in New York. By the early 1930's she was working in a Social Realist style that with adjustments would be the mainstay of her work. Ms. Harmon is represented in public collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum and the Jewish Museum in New York City, and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington.
