Description:

Larry Connatser (GA/SC, 1938-1996), Untitled # 1728, Acrylic on Board, 1974, depicting a brightly colored pointillist landscape, within a pink painted frame, signed Connatser and dated '74 verso, also with old exhibition tag on the back. Frame H. 50in. X 49 3/4 in.

Larry Connatser’s work was inspired by music, surrealism, and art history. The self taught artist completed over 2,500 paintings over the course of his career. Though he prefered to exhibit his work in personally staged private exhibitions, his paintings have been exhibited at a number of larger museums in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. After his death the Telfair Museum of Art exhibited his retrospective, “Southern Melodies: A Larry Connatser Retrospecive.” His work can be found in a variety of public and private collections and his estate is held by the Morris Museum of Art.
