Description:

Larry Connatser (GA/SC, 1938-1996), Untitled, 5 Figures, Acrylic on Board, 1969, signed, numbered '804', and dated May '69' on verso, depicting 4 figures on a pink couch with one standing figure, in a metal frame. Frame size: 12 1/4 in. x 12 1/4 in.

Larry Connatser’s work was inspired by music, surrealism, and art history. The self taught artist completed over 2,500 paintings over the course of his career. Though he prefered to exhibit his work in personally staged private exhibitions, his paintings have been exhibited at a number of larger museums in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. After his death the Telfair Museum of Art exhibited his retrospective, “Southern Melodies: A Larry Connatser Retrospecive.” His work can be found in a variety of public and private collections and his estate is held by the Morris Museum of Art.

Condition:

Good condition, wear and rubbing to paint along edges where frame touches board, small loss to paint in forehead of central seated figure.
