Description:
Ken Payne, Misery Loves Company, 1992, Painted Bronze, signed, dated and numbered 8/35 on the base, depicting two horses in winter, on a 2 1/4 in. swiveling wood base.Ken Payne was an American sculptor best known for his bronze works depicting the landscapes and history of the Southwest and plains regions of the United States. His sculptures of buffalo, wolves, Native Americans, pioneers, and cowboys often capture a moment of action in some larger narrative, bringing to life an idealized sense of the historic frontier of the Old West. In this way, Payne’s work bears resemblance to the paintings and sculptures of Frederic Remington. Born in New Mexico, Payne became a pilot in 1956, making art in his spare time. (artnet.com)
