Description:

John Francis Vallee (French, 18th C), Box with Miniature of a Woman, 1785, the miniature signed and dated 1785 lower right, depicting a seated woman in green, mounted in a gilt metal surround on a lidded box, with label behind portrait 'E. Corplet, Artiste Peintre et Sculpteur, Reparateur d'Objets d'Arts'. Size of box: 1 in. x 3 1/2 in.

Measurements: Height: of portrait 2 3/4 in. x Width: 2 1/4 in.

Condition:

Overall good condition, some stains to left side of portrait, other small water marks in background, portrait loose in mount, wear to edges of box.
