Fine and Decorative Art from the Estate of Arthur B. Kouwenhoven Jr., February 5th-24th. Kouwenhoven was an avid collector and supporter of working artists. He started his career with the legendary design firm Jansen Inc., NY where his client list included the Kennedy White House. Highlights from the auction include ‘Floating Pig’ by John Wesley, 5 works by Paul Cadmus, a Nakashima coffee table, Chinese jades and bronzes, Cartier and other gold boxes, 6 works by Mario Yrisarry, 25 works by Paul Stone, as well as many other works by Savannah artists.

Description:

Jeff Gompertz (American, b. 1959), Untitled (BOT 7), 1983, Oil and Wax on Paper, unsigned on the front but with label verso indicating artist, title and date from Harm Bouckaert Gallery, 100 Hudson St, New York, NY 10013. Frame size: 30 in. x 25 in.

Jeff Gompertz is an American contemporary visual artist. Gompertz grew up in the Washington Heights-Inwood section of Manhattan. He received his (B.F.A) from Cooper Union (1979) where he studied alongside classmates Donald Baechler and Curtis Anderson, and had several influential professors including Louise Bourgeois, Hans Haake and Christopher Wilmarth. After University he worked in an art studio building on East 2nd St. and continued to live and work in the lower East Village before moving to the Williamsburg neighborhood in 1990. The first public exhibitions of his work was in NY at Tribeca at Harm Bouckaert and various Soho galleries from 1981 to 1983 including the Drawing Center. He began working with American art dealer Annie Plumb, and in 1984 he had his first shows with that Gallery.

Measurements: Height: of paper 24 in. x Width: 19 in.

Condition:

Good condition, not viewed out of frame, some areas touching glass. Frame with wear to edges.

PAYMENTS. Payments are expected within 7 calendar days of receiving your invoice. You will pay us the total purchase price for a lot by credit card (UP TO $5,000), cash (US currency not to exceed $10,000 in a single or multiple related payments), check, or wire transfer, before the property can be removed. Everard Auctions and Appraisals requires payment by wire transfer, check, ACH or cash (up to $10,000) for jewelry, watches and precious metals for all New and/or International buyers. You must quote your invoice number when making a payment. A Convenience Fee of approximately 3% will be applied to all US credit card payments, and non US credit cards approximately 4%. No fee will be levied if payment is made by Cash or Check. Please note a flat $15 fee for wire transfers should be included in the amount wired. For all payments made by check, we reserve the right to hold the merchandise for 7 Business days or until cleared or certified funds are provided. The purchaser will be charged $35.00 for each check returned for insufficient funds. Additionally, all payments made after 30 days will be subject to a 1.5% Late Payment Fee which will continue to accrue and compound per each additional 30 day period.
