Description:

James Montgomery Flagg (NY, 1877-1960), Girl, Liberty magazine Illustration, Watercolor and Pencil, signed lower left, depicting a woman collapsed in a polka dot chair in front of a piano, for Liberty magazine illustration for Vina Delmar story, “Does He Get the Girl?” Liberty, Volume 7, Issue #45, Page 7, Nov 8, 1930, unframed, with pencil inscription 'Follow this for color' lower right and stamped 'Liberty Art Department 220 E. 42nd St., New York, NY, Subj: Girl, Issue: Nov 8, 1930, Page: 7' on verso.

James Montgomery Flagg was an artist, cartoonist and illustrator known for his political posters. 'A painter and illustrator for St. Nicholas Magazine, Judge, Life, Harper's Weekly, College Humor and Cosmopolitan. He sold his first illustration at age 12 and is best remembered for his 'I Want You,' a World War I poster of Uncle Sam, for which he served as model.' (Smithsonian American Art Museum)

Measurements: Height: 23 in. x Width: 28 in.

Condition:

Overall fair condition, paper toned, faint mat burn, wear and losses to edges, some stains and marks in borders and along top edge.
