Description:
Helen Kendall (1892-1970), Fugue in Rectangles, Gouache on Paper, unsigned study, depicting abstract geometric design with squares, with pencil labels of paint colors, matted and framed. Frame size: 21 1/4 in. x 17 1/4 in.Provenance: Consigned by the artist's nephew.
Helen Lowe Kendall was an active member of the Non-Objective abstractionists organization in New York City, whose artists and collection led to the establishment of the Guggenheim Museum. She exhibited with notable artists such as Wassily Kandinsky, Rudolf Bauer, Rolf Scarlett, Irene Rice Periera, and Hila Rebay in New York as well as in Paris at the Palais des Beaux-Arts and the Galerie Carpentier.
