Helen Hatch Inglesby (Savannah, 1914-1999), Portrait of Woman with Cat, Oil on Board, signed lower right, signed in pencil on verso, depicting a young woman holding a white cat, in a wood frame. Frame size: 23 in. x 19 in.

John Duncan purchased remainder of artists works from their estate in 1999.

Savannah native Helen Hatch Inglesby had a long and prolific career as an artist working in a wide variety of media, though she was perhaps best known for her silhouettes. Inglesby studied at the College of William and Mary and at the Telfair Academy. She was devoted to the Savannah art world, exhibiting regularly with the Savannah Art Association and the Society of Georgia Artists, as well as teaching art at various schools in the city. Her work can be found in the permanent collections of the Morris Museum of Art, the Telfair Museum and in private collections.

Measurements: Height: by sight 18 3/4 in. x Width: 14 3/4 in.

Condition:

Good condition, some wear along edges where board touches the frame, some small losses and scratches to paint, particularly in forehead and clothes.
