Helen Hatch Inglesby (GA, 1914-1999), Group of 5 Christmas Scene Silhouettes, comprising a scene with the angel Gabriel and star of Bethlehem (10 in. x 12 in.), scene of the journey to Bethlehem, initial signed and pencil signed and numbered 19/100 lower edge (11 in. x 8 1/2 in.), scene with Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus (8 in. x 5 in.), the shepherds with their flock seeing the star of Bethlehem (11 5/8 in. x 8 1/4 in.), and the adoration of Magi (12 1/8 in. x 9 in.). All unframed.

John Duncan purchased remainder of artists works from their estate in 1999.

Savannah native Helen Hatch Inglesby had a long and prolific career as an artist working in a wide variety of media, though she was perhaps best known for her silhouettes. Inglesby studied at the College of William and Mary and at the Telfair Academy. She was devoted to the Savannah art world, exhibiting regularly with the Savannah Art Association and the Society of Georgia Artists, as well as teaching art at various schools in the city. Her work can be found in the permanent collections of the Morris Museum of Art, the Telfair Museum and in private collections.

Condition:

Overall good condition, all with foxing, Jesus, Mary and Joseph with toning to paper, some glue residue.
