Description:

Hayley Lever (Australian-American, 1876-1958), Thames at Night, Oil on Board, c. 1910, signed in red lower right, a starry night view of the Thames, pencil inscription on back reading 'Thames at Night, London, England, 1910 by Hayley Lever,' in a giltwood frame. Frame size: 10 5/8 in. x 14 1/8 in.

Richard Hayley Lever was an Australian-American impressionist painter. Lever studied in England before moving the United States. Lever travelled the east coast and painted the northeastern coast extensively. He exhibited broadly in his lifetime. His work was part of the art competitions at the 1928 Summer Olympics and the 1932 Summer Olympics. Lever’s work can be found in the Telfair Academy in Savannah, the Hirshorn Museum, LACMA and the White House, among many others.

Measurements: Height: by sight, 6 in. x Width: 9 3/8 in.

Condition:

Overall good condition, light wear to edge of board, inpainting upper right quadrant, light wear to frame.
