Description:

Hattie Saussy (Savannah, 1890-1978), Flags, Watercolor, signed lower right, study of a large building with flags in the foreground, with C. Duncan Connelly Fine Art gallery label on back, matted and in a giltwood frame. Frame size: 16 5/8 in. x 13 1/4 in.

Hattie Saussy was a Savannah, GA artist, well known for her southern landscapes, portraits and colorful genre paintings. Saussy received her artistic education from the New York School of Fine and Applied Art, the National Academy of Design, and the Art Students League. After her schooling and some world travel she returned to Savannah in 1923. Saussy settled back into the Savannah art scene and became instrumental in founding the Association of Georgia Artists. Her work can now be found in the collections of The Telfair Museums, Savannah, The Morris Museum, Augusta and the Oglethorpe University Museum of Art, Atlanta.

Measurements: Height: by sight, 9 3/4 in. x Width: 6 1/8 in.

Condition:

Overall good condition, small tear to center upper edge, not viewed out of frame, light wear to frame.
