Description:
Harold Gaze (CA/New Zealand/England, 1885-1962), Seashore Scene with Figures and Shells, Watercolor and Pen and Ink, signed and dated '14 lower left, depicting a shoreline with fairies, mermaids, and shell creatures, with 'Kendra Krienke, 230 Central Park West, New York, NY' label on verso, matted and framed. Frame size: 16 in. x 17 5/8 in.Harold Gaze was born in Christchurch, New Zealand and came to Southern California in the 1920's after studying art in England. Gaze was known for his fanciful paintings and illustrated a number of children's books. During his time in Southern California he worked for Disney Studios for a number of years. (Askart.com)
