George Victor Cooper (American, 19th C), Pair of Paintings of Mr. and Mrs. Cleveland, Oil on Canvas, 1838, the woman holding a fan and with lace cap with inscription on verso 'Eunice Cleveland, Age 45, G.V. Cooper, Ptr, 1838', the man with inscription 'Benjn Cleveland, Age 42, G.V. Cooper, Ptr, 1838' verso, holding a newspaper titled 'The New Jersey Eagle Sept. 4th 1838', each in a giltwood frame. Frame size: 37 1/2 in. x 30 1/4 in.
Measurements: Height: by sight 33 1/2 in. x Width: 26 1/4 in.
Condition:
Good restored condition, both relined, the woman with repaired tear on her left shoulder below lace collar and her right sleeve with corresponding inpainting, inpainting to craquelure an outer edges of background. The man with repaired possible punctures to left of face and his collar and two repaired tears near his left shoulder (one with chip to paint), all with inpainting, other scattered minor inpainting.
