Description:

George III Marble Mantel, In the Manner of Robert Adam, 18th C, the reverse breakfronted egg-and-dart carved cornice above a panel carved with Classical reclining male nude and lion, flanked by uprights carved with robed Classical figures. Inner dimensions: 40 in. x 40 in. Depth of sides: 7 1/2 in. Approximate size of missing portions: 7 in. x 8 in.

Provenance: Stair & Company, Inc. New York, NY, private collection, gifted to Telfair Museums c. 1977.

Measurements: Height: overall 56 1/2 in. x Width: 69 1/2 in. x Depth: 12 1/2 in.

Condition:

Tops of uprights missing, some chips and repairs to mantel, repair and loss to mantel top, left upper gadrooning with plaster repair, chip to top inner edge of interior, wear to edges, small chips. As is.
