George III Mahogany Knife Box with Sterling and Mother-of-Pearl Cutlery, 18th/19 C, the knife box with silver mounts, the hinged lid opening to an inlaid interior, fitted with sterling silver and Mother-of-Pearl knives and forks,by William Nowill in partnership with John Nowill, Sheffield, c. 1846, comprising 12 forks and 12 knives. THe knife box with unmarked silver mounts.
Measurements: Height: of case 12 1/4 in. x Width: 8 in. x Depth: 6 1/2 in.
Condition:
Overall good condition, case with old marks and scratches, age crack across front of lid, cracking and patch to veneer on lid, wear to edges, front clasp on case loose and lacking some rivets, hinge mounts on back lacking some rivets, polish residue around mounts, age cracks and losses to veneer on edges of case, minor wear and some cracks to mother-of-pearl handles.
