Eyvind Earle was an American painter and illustrator best known for his work painting the backgrounds of Disney animations. Born on April 26, 1916 in New York, NY, Earle began painting at a young age and had his first solo show in Paris at the age of 14. His oeuvre, often rendered in oil or through serigraph printing, depicted simple, imagined landscapes, often in dark blues and greens. Earle received the Windsor McCay Award for lifetime achievement in animation at the 26th Annie Awards in 1998, and was inducted as a Disney Legend in 2015. (Artnet.com)
