Description:

Evelyn Wilson (American, 1915-2006), Mother and Child, Painted Ceramic, with old label on the bottom.

Evelyn Wilson was married to the painter Ben Wilson. She started out as a serious sculptor working abstractly in stone and bronze, but later discovered clay and figurative sculpture later in her career. Wilson’s figures are depicted in intimate groupings, mostly of women and children, and convey a sense of gentleness and calm. Many of her figurative sculptures are permanently housed in museums and university collections on the east coast, including Passaic County College. (pcccgalleries.org)
