English School, Portrait of a Gentleman, Oil on Canvas, unsigned, probably 18th century, depicting a gentleman in wig and black robe in an oval composition with caption 'Vivere Est Cogitare' to right of figure, with number label on back of stretcher '152', in a giltwood frame. Frame size: 39 1/2 in. x 34 1/2 in.Measurements: Height: by sight 29 1/8 in. x Width: 24 1/8 in.
Condition:
Overall fair condition, in need of cleaning, relined, some craquelure particularly along top edge, possible repaired hole with associated inpainting in lower right of robe, some losses to paint along top edge, wear to frame.
