Eliot Clark (NY/VA, 1883-1980), Silver Haze Cold Spring Harbor, Oil on Fiberboard Panel, signed lower right, depicting a boat in a harbor, with a mountainous landscape in the background, a printed scan of the board's verso showing the written title and 'Eliot Clark Van Dyck Studios' stamp fixed to back of frame, in a giltwood frame. Frame size: 18 5/8 in. x 20 5/8 in.

The son of two artists, Eliot Clark was a child prodigy who began exhibiting his watercolors at the age of fifteen. Clark studied under John H. Twachtman at the Art Students League in New York before travelling in Europe to continue his studies. In addition to painting, Clark wrote and taught at various institutions, including the Savannah Art Club. His work can be found in the collections of the Telfair Museums, the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Parrish Art Museum, among others.
