Description:

Edward Dufner (NY/NJ, 1872-1957), A Morning in June, Oil on Canvas, signed lower left Edward Dufner N. A., depicting two girls by a river with ducks with flowering plants and willow trees, in a period frame. Frame size: 36 in. x 46 in.

Edward Dufner is known as New Jersey’s most important impressionist. He studied in Paris at the Académie Julian and with James McNeil Whistler, he returned to the United States in 1903 settling first in Buffalo and then in New York City. He began painting in the Impressionist style and taught at the Art Students Leagues of both cities. In 1910, he held special classes in Caldwell, New Jersey, and he spent most of his summers painting there. He is especially known for his paintings of children by a lake with ducks and birch trees as part of the composition. Dufner's work can be found in many galleries and private collections.(Artnet)

Condition:

Good condition, canvas slightly wavy, would benefit from cleaning.
