Description:

David Dawangyumptewa (American, 20th C), Butterfly Dance in Zoomorph Plaza, Mixed Media, signed and dated '1999' lower right, with Museum of Northern Arizona tag on verso, depicting an abstract scene with bugs, plants, patterns, and handprints with buttons along edges of paper. Floating in a plexiglass shadowbox frame. Frame size: 42 1/2 in. x 34 5/8 in.

David Dawangyumptewa received his extensive art education from multiple notable institutions, including the American Federation of Arts, the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, Haskell Indian Junior College in Lawrence, Kansas, the University of Northern Arizona, and the Northern Arizona Institute of Technology. He is represented by galleries across the US and has exhibited his work at the Wheelwright Museum in Santa Fe in a solo exhibition and the Museum of Northern Arizona.
