Description:
8 Vials of Charleston Earthquake Sand and Related Publication, Aug. 31, 1886, comprising eight 6 in. glass vials of sand from the Aug. 31, 1886 Charleston earthquake in vintage cigar box with typed label card, together with pamphlet 'Charleston as it is After the Earthquake Shock: A Sketch of the Occurrence, Illustrations of its Effects' with announcements of business houses representing every branch of trade ready for business, stamped 'J. P Stration'.Measurements: Height: of pamphlet 10 in. x Width: 7 3/4 in.
Condition:
Fair condition, some losses to corks on vials, some vials taped over corks, pamphlet worn, toned, with foxing and some creases, tears, and losses particularly along edges, cigar box very worn.
