Arthur V. Diehl (Massachusetts/New York/England, 1870-1929), Moonlight, Provincetown, Oil on Board, 1928, signed and dated 1928 lower right, titled on verso, depicting moonlight on a body of water, in a wood and giltwood frame. Frame size: 10 in. x 12 in.Arthur Vidal Diehl is known for his sand dune and harbor scenes of Cape Cod. He was born in England and came to America in the 1890s. Diehl exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1899 and he became so closely associated with his works of the Cape Cod landscape that Movietone made a short movie of him painting at Provincetown in 1921.
